Academic Background & Course Expertise

Undergraduate Class HDF 343:

An upper-division, writing-intensive elective where students actively lead discussions on assigned readings and complete analytical papers designed to strengthen both critical thinking and writing abilities.

Undergraduate Class HDF 315 L:

A foundational course required for majors, introducing students to a wide range of research methods. Explores methodological approaches of surveys, observational studies, and experimental approaches. This class prepares students for advanced coursework within the discipline.

Graduate Class HDF 380.1k:

An upper-division, writing-intensive elective where students actively lead discussions on assigned readings and complete analytical papers designed to strengthen both critical thinking and writing abilities.

Graduate Class HDF 395.2k:

This required content course for doctoral students explores how various ecological systems, such as families, schools, neighborhoods, and peer groups, shape human development. Students write weekly reflections and design a research proposal throughout the course.

Graduate Class HDF 394:

An advanced elective seminar where students take an active role in shaping discussions. They submit weekly questions, lead class dialogue, and produce a major research proposal.
